Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to Register, the applicant must meet the eligibility criteria listed below:
- As of 1 April, the application age must not exceed 35.
- The applicant must belong to Scheduled Castes (SC)/Denotified Nomadic Tribes, Semi Nomadic Tribes and Landless Agricultural Labourers and Traditional Artisans
- The candidate must be prepared to study a Ph.D. and a Master degree in another country
- For Ph.D. candidates, the applicant must hold a master or doctoral degree with at least 60% grades (or equivalent).
- For Master candidates, the applicant must hold a bachelor degree with at least 60% or an equivalent grade.
- A family annual salary must not exceed Rs 8,000,000
- If a candidate complete the Bachelor of Engineering degree after complete the diploma, the marks earn in the Bachelor degree are take into consideration.
National Overseas Scholarship 2024: Benefits
The financial support prescribed by the law will be available until completion of a course, research, or for the period following the conclusion date.
- PhD degree 4 years
- The Master program takes 3 years.
- The actual amount charged for tuition
- Visa fees Actual visa fees in INR (Indian Rupees)
- The actual a payment charged for Medical Insurance premiums
- In case of an incidental journey allowance or equipment allowance, the payment is 20 US dollars each (or its equivalent in Indian rupees)
Air Passage
- Three authorized travel agencies will be able to sell the awardees air tickets from their nearby airport to Indian Hometown to the nearby place of the educational institution, and then back to India. The three authorized travel agents are Balmer Lawrie and Company Limited, Ashok Travels and Tours and Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd.
- Awardees are free to choose the travel agent who will book the tickets. The awardees are not entitled to any reimbursement of booking charges, excess baggage, cancellation charges or other fees.
- After joining the University, and giving an official joining report to University, awardees can assert their airfare reimbursement from their respective Indian Mission overseas.
- The Indian Mission will be booking return tickets as per clause 11.iii.
- You can use the contingency allowance for: books, essential apparatus, study tour, travel costs to attend subject related workshops, conferences, etc, typing and binding the thesis etc.
Step
- These fees are those that the institution, university charges directly in relation to the study of the recipients, such as registration fees and examination fees. Also, fees for library membership, library enrollment, or other fees. The fee charge for English, or any other course of language before or after joining is not permit.
- It is possible for the awardees to increase their allowances through research or teaching assistantships.
- The second or coach class train fare to and from the port where you disembarked. If you live in a remote area that is not well connected by rail, then bus fares from your home to the nearby station of the railway, ferry fares, air fares to the nearby railcum air terminal, or second class railway boarding fees are all acceptable.
- Government of India, and Indian Missions overseas will determine the mode of financial assistance listed above.
- If a candidate chooses to pursue research in India under the NOS program with the approval of the Indian Mission concerned and the University concerned, then the maintenance allowances will be calculated according to the rates. In India, the rates will register as set forth by the National Fellowship program (SC) of the Ministry of SJ&E.
National Overseas Scholarship 2024: Documents Required
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must submit the following documents:
- Certificate of Caste, Category
- Date of Birth Certificate
- Photo
- Signatures scanned
- Proof of current address
- Proof of permanent address
- Qualification mark sheet and Degree
- Documents valid for admission into foreign universities
- A Revenue Officer not lower than the “Tehsildar”, who is a member of the family, will issue a certificate of income for all candidates of the family.
- Certificate of NOC from the employer (if applicant is an employee)
- If the chosen candidate is accept, a letter of award will be issued under the National Overseas Scholarship program for SC. To register, the applicant must submit these documents.

- Self Declaration and Undertaking regarding total annual family salary
- Declare any case pending or non convictions of an offence
National Overseas Scholarship 2024: Selection Process
There will only be two rounds. The merit lists of all eligible candidates will be drawn each choice cycle according to their ranking, which is based on the last QS ranking for the foreign universities and institutions from whom the candidate had get the scholarship or offer.
Candidates with offer letters from higher ranked Universities and Institutions will have a greater ranking in the merit lists. Should there be a tie among the QS rankings for two or more applicants, the ranking in merit is determined based on their grades and marks obtained in the qualifying examinations for the higher study for which they have applied.

National Overseas Scholarship 2024: Terms and Conditions
You must comply with the terms and condition to apply successfully for this scholarship.
- The awards shall be Provided to women in proportion of 30%.
- No request for a change of Institution, University will entertain. Should the select candidate wish to change his and her course of study, he and she can register again in the subsequent round.
- Modification, Relaxation in the highlights of the Program of National Overseas Scholarship for SC etc.
- The Program only allows two children per parent, guardian to get a grant.
- The Program highlights 2022 and 23 are available through the portal. They give a selection method.
- The first time applicants for a scholarship must apply using the “Candidates apply Form” under the Login tab. It is main that the applicant fills out all details accurately. A text message is sent after successful login to the apply email address.
- For the purposes of filling out the application, the email address entered by the applicant and the password that he and she select will serve as the respective user-ID and password. You will use the same password and login to access any details or queries from the Department.
- If the Department choice the candidate for further consideration, the candidate must submit all the documents requested by it.
- Scholarship letters will be award to candidates that have been admit into foreign institutions, universities.
- The candidates who have obtainer an unconditional offer of admission from one of the foreign institutions, universities which are in the list of top 500 ranked institutions, universities from the academic session 2022, 23 and onward will consider for the award of scholarship for studying in that Institution, University subject to fulfillment of other eligibility conditions of the Program.
