The Government of Sikkim state has launched various scholarship schemes as well as Sikkim Post Matric Scholarship to help the economically backward community and their children who are not able to continue their education due to various financial reasons currently pursuing education at various levels.

Sikkim Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must also be permanent residents of Sikkim State and must also ensure connection with the local community
• The scholarship is inclusive and open to individuals from all categories, promoting equal opportunities for students.
• The scholarship is not limited by gender, both male and female students can apply and register themselves.
• The scholarship is at hand for both pre-matric and post-matric students bound to a broad span of educational levels.
• The candidate’s family income should be less than 2.5 lakh per annum. This criterion also ensures that the scholarship should reach the financially deserving individuals.
• To be eligible for this scheme the applicant must be a regular student studying in any government recognized government school. This requirement emphasizes the importance of attending an institution officially recognized by the government.
• Pursuing post-matriculation or post-secondary courses from a recognized institution.

Final Words

The age limit ceiling for admission as a regular student in different classes will be decided by the concerned institutions.Candidates who, after passing one stage of education are studying in the same stage of education in different subjects i.e. I.Sc.

After IA or B.Com. after a B.A. or M.A. degree in one subject after an M.A. degree in other subjects are ineligible.Candidates who are pursuing their studies through correspondence are eligible to apply. The term correspondence includes distant and continuous education for courses in Central/State universities only.

In case, a student is granted two scholarships simultaneously, they may have the choice to select either of these and their preference should be formally communicated to the awarding authorities through the Head of their Institutions.
